Trademarks

Patricia Hu focuses her practice on trademarks and other areas of brand identity/ brand protection.

Ms. Hu assists clients in all stages of the trademark registration process. She helps clients with trademark searches, the preparation of opinions on the availability and registrability of trademarks, and the filing and prosecution of applications for registration at state, federal and international levels. Ms. Hu also aids clients in a variety of trademark dispute issues, including opposition proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and co-existence agreements.

As a law student, Ms. Hu worked at the Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, where she assisted indigent clients with bankruptcy and tax proceedings and filings. While she was working at Legal Aid, Ms. Hu also participated in the SMU Family Law Clinic, where she provided legal services for families in need.

Ms. Hu also has clerked at the international firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in Beijing, China where she assisted with corporate transactions and Intellectual Property matters. Being fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Ms. Hu was able to assist in legal transactions between American and Chinese companies.

While in law school, Ms. Hu also participated in various off-campus mock trial and moot court teams. In 2008, Ms. Hu was part of the Lone Star Mock Trial team that took first place in San Antonio, Texas. Ms. Hu was also a member of the Wagner Moot Court Team and competed in competitions in New York on Labor and Employment law issues.
